　　What is nature? It's everything that exists in the world independently of people, such as pants and animals, earth and rocks, and the weather.

　　Now more and more people are focusing on the nature. It is no doubt that the nature is important to every human being. No nature, no life. Because of the supplies of the nature, we have lived happily for a long time. And we started to gain every thing available from the nature. And this lasted so long a time. Today, people have discovered that the nature around is getting worse and worse.

　　What is threatening the nature? Air and water pollution, overharvesting of plant and animal species, overpopulation and so on. Overpopulation is the biggest source of pollution. Let's take overpopulation as an example.

　　What does overpopulation feel like? When we move slowly through the city in a tazi. When we enter a crowded slum district. When the temperature is high and when the air is thick with dust and smoke. The streets are crowded with people. The streets seem alive with people. People eating. People washing. People talking. People sleeping. People visiting each other, arguing and screaming. People relieving themselves. People pushing their hands through the taxi windows, begging. People leading animals. People, people, people, people. As we drive slowly through the crowd, sounding the taxi's horn, the dust, heat, noise and cooking fires made it like a scene from hell! I admit, frightening.

　　To the nature, overpopulation is a big problem. More people, more pollution. And the big population is threatening the nature every second.

　　The rapid rise in world population is not creating problems only for the developing countries. The whole world faces the problem that raw materials are being used up at an increasing rate and food production can not keep up with the population increase. People in rich countries make the heaviest demands on the world's resources, its food, fuel and land, and cause the most pollution. A baby born in the United States will use in his lifetime 30 times more of the world's resources than a baby born in India. Unless all the countries of the world take united action to deal with the population explosion there will be more and more people fighting for a share of less and less land, food and fuel, and the future will bring poverty, misery and war to us all.

　　For most of the developing countries, it is a good idea to control the population growth. For example, China has carried out birth control for years. And this plan has a great effect on the world population.

　　If the population continues to increase, if the air and water continue to be polluted, if we don't do something to protect wild-plant and wildlife species will be declining. Species and biological communities have difficulty adapting to change. Economic opportunities and the quality of life of future generations are also put at risk. By protecting nature, we protect ourselves.

　　Let's unite together, hand in hand we stand all across the land.

　　We can make this world in which to live. Hand in hand. Control the population growth. Take good care of our nature.

　　I’m Mike. I am a student in Huaxing Middle School. Do you know the plasticbags? Do you often use the plastic bags? I don’t like them. I think they use thewasting valuable oil their production. And they can’t decompose(分解) in a shorttime. The plastic bags will make our world worse. I agree with the rule, whichpeople can’t get the free plastic bags in the shops, supermarkets. It encouragespeople to use their cloth bags and baskets. It’s good for our environment.

　　So I hope all the students in our class stop to use the plastic bags, anduse our own cloth bags. I hope we can take care of our environment. Let’s makeour world more and more beautiful.

　　Many people are active in fighting against unfair treatment to coloredpeople, women , animals and so on. Right now I am talking about fighting forrespect to our environment. Though the environment doesn’t have a mouth todeprecate what humans have done to her, she retaliates through action. In theearly years the Chinese cut down large quantities of trees, at the source of theyellow river, which led to the disappearance of big forests and terrible a result,the Huangtu plateau which was once covered with grass and forestswas turned into barrens that supported fewer plants. Another example was inseveral developed countries. Because many chemical factories dischargedpoisonous gas without filtering it, cities were covered with so much poisonousgas that people were killed by the air they breathed in. What horriblescene!

　　What we are suffering is only a small part of what the nature oncesuffered. If we don’t take action to show respect to the environment, we willhave to face an increasingly awful situation.

　　Measures should be taken to protect the environment on which we arerelying. First governments should forbid destroying vegetation, rivers andlakes, oceans, as and the atmosphere as well. Second voices should be made toannounce the public of the importance of protecting the environment. Thirdenterprises should pay special attention to the effect they have on theenvironment and work out solutions for the by changing the way wetreat the environment can we get along well with it. Only by saving theenvironment can we save ourselves.

　　Harmony with the environment is that we live in on Earth, who is a naturalson, and not only to natural persons as the conqueror, as we all know, there isonly one earth and the mountains on Earth, the animals.

　　Plant human cells, if it damaged, destroyed nature organizations, to theeradication of mankind. Therefore, the environment must be linked with socialethics, character education and practice acts as an important element of yone must fulfil its responsibilities and obligations to protect theenvironment.

　　Some people may proudly say: we are the masters of nature. it is true thatthe idea of "man can conquer nature" has dominated people‘s mind for years, andit is true, man has kept acting like a master and doing whatever things he wantsfor thousands of years. however, as the consequence of this kind of "leadership", now the "master" seems to be confronted with problems that are far beyond hiscontrol. facts are really very ample. thegreen house effect leaves islands andcities along the coast, such as this oriental pearl-shanghai, in danger of thedisaster of being drowned; the holes of the ozone layer make the earth lesssuitable to live for some creatures including human beings; the phenomena of elnino and la nina leave the land with serious flood and drought, and thediseases, caused by pollution, are increasing at an incredible speed... seeingall these facts, can we still ignore the counterattack of nature? we are not themasters of nature. facing all the disasters made by ourselves, we, mankind as awhole should realize that we are just a normal member of the big family ofnature. any mistreatment towards nature will meet only with the revenge fromher.

　　The first thing we can do is to use cloth bags instead of plastic bags whenwe go shopping. It helps to protect the environment. The second thing we can dois to reuse(再利用) the old textbooks as possible as we can. We should also neverforget to turn off the lights when we leave the classrooms in order to ’s more, it would be better if we walk or ride a bike to school. Weshould try our best to reduce pollution and waste.

　　In fact, even the simplest everyday activities(日常活动) can make a realdifference to(对…有影响) the environment. I believe we can make the world a betterplace to live in.

　　How to protect the environment?

　　Today there is more and more pollution and the environment is becomingworse and worse. So we have to know how to protect the environment. Here aresome ways.

　　First, we can stop driving our personal cars. We can go to school or workon foot or by bus. Not only can it protect environment, but also it is good forour health.

　　Second, we are not supposed to throw around litter anywhere. Instead, weshould put them into the dustbin. And it’s best to pick up the litter on theground when we see them.

　　Third, we should save the paper, the water, the food and so on. Fourth, weshould protect the trees and we should plant more trees.

　　I think if everyone does something to protect the environment, our worldwill be much better.

　　So it is high time that we should do something to change this situation. as a citizen, we can do much for it. for example, we could use disposable goods less. and we are supposed to save resources such as water, electricity and so on. also, we ought to plant more trees to reduce the greenhouse effect. in addition, we could try our best to publicize the knowledge of environment protection. because we only have one world。

　　We have only one earth. But now,the environment becomes worse and worse.

　　As you know,there's no enough clean water for people. So many of them lose their lives because of water. In a lot of countries, people have to cut trees for living. So there's nothing to keep water from running away. Also we have polluted the land, the river and the air. So we have to face more and more floods and droughts .

　　It's time that we must do something useful to protect our environment. We can plant trees and take good care of them. We can save the water and ask our parents to do so. We can't throw any litter onto the ground and we should collect them for recycling.

　　If we take good care of our earth today,it will be more beautiful tomorrow.
