许多学生在写英语作文时都面临同样的问题：自己费尽心思、绞尽脑汁写出的作文，却得不到高分。下面就这个问题给出几点自己的体会。
一、要学会扬长避短
书面表达要想得高分，就要扬长避短。“扬长”就是发挥自己的有利条件，“避短”就是避开自己的不利条件，尽量做到不犯错误或少犯错误，这是书面表达的关键所在。下面把学生作文中的错误进行归类总结，希望引起广大师生的注意。
1.缺少句子成分
就是缺少主语、谓语或宾语的现象，这是学生普遍存在的问题。
2.犯重复错误
就是语义重复、谓语重复的问题，例如return back等现象。
3.语义不一致的问题
就是主语、谓语、宾语的误用，这是英汉应用习惯不同所造成的。
二、应突出自己的个性
所谓突出个性就是要与众不同，尤其体现在词汇的选取和运用上。我们要尽量避免使用平淡无奇的.词汇，而且还要避免重复使用。但是所选词汇并不是越难越好、越长越好、越生僻越好。如果你所用词汇是大部分学生都想不到的表达方式，那就是与众不同，体现了你的个性。比如，通过构词法形成的词汇：复合词、派生词、合成词等。
三、要尽量显出文采
句子结构单一，会使文章平淡无奇，像白开水一样，读起来索然无味。要想使自己的文章显出文采，应该尽量做到句式多样化，简单句和复合句交替使用，使文章结构紧凑，语义通顺。

几年以前，我对英语那叫什么都不会，就连yes和no都学了几学期才学会，就在一个暑假，老爸把我送进补习班去学英语。那时的我百分之一百比愿不愿意去学习，认为大人们剥夺了我的自由。
刚开始，我不愿意学。老师见我这样，就想出一个办法来。刚刚学习完第一课，老师马上考试，因为我上课不听讲，所以我连最简单的`二十六个字母都默写不来。最终得了个“大鸭蛋”，老师给其他同学都发了奖品，就我没有，还被骂了一顿。
后来我为了得到奖品，我开始学习起英语来。后来的那股子认真劲我都不知道那里来的，可能是为了得到奖品吧!
从逼着上学到积极上学;从一回家就玩到一回家就听磁带，为了背诵一篇课文，往往要花好几个小时的时间去听读，背诵。
