　　It is reported that over two-fifths of the students in a certain school smoke, and some of them even steal money to buy cigarettes, This is terrible.

　　As we all know, smoking is harmful to our health. But it's even more harmful to middle school students for it does great harm not only to their health but also to their mind.

　　Middle school students are future builders of the country. They should spend their time learning what is useful. So it's really time that these young smokers made up their minds to give up smoking.

　　以前上课的时候，我总是会发生一些想不到的事情，在老师的眼里，我一直都是一位好学生，无论是学习上还是做人上都令老师啧啧称赞，但是那一次在老师的眼中，我却不再是一个好学生……

　　那是一个炎热的下午，下午本身就是犯困的时候，恰巧碰上第1节课是英语课，说实话，我本身对英语课没有什么厌烦的，只是由于天气的原因，那节课我格外的困，坐在凳子上背直不起来，眼睛也睁不开，上眼皮跟下眼皮一直在打架，最终上眼皮打败了下眼皮，我“成功”的睡着了。

　　等我睡着以后，隐隐约约的还能听到英语老师在上面讲着课程，但是自己的思想早已进入了梦乡，突然，感觉自己的手臂被碰了一下，自己一下子从梦中惊醒，同桌把我叫醒，他对我说“快醒醒，老师叫你回答问题”，我一下子就弹了起来，两只眼睛直勾勾的盯着老师，老师看了我一眼，继续对我说道“快回答！”所有的同学都看着我，可是我就想是从其他星球来的，浑然不知道老师在提问什么问题，这下子可坏了，因为我可是班级里的英语课代表，竟然不知道老师提问的什么问题，自己站在那里支支吾吾的，没有说出一句话。老师脸上的`笑容逐渐消失了，之后老师没有搭理我，继续提问了其他同学，而我只能在那里默默的站着，我知道这是老师在惩罚我，我一个人低着头，这时候也精神了许多，再也没有了困意。下课以后老师找我谈话，因为我是一名课代表，应该是这节课的积极分子，我的行为令老师觉得不合适，也很生气，我给老师做了保证，保证以后再也不会这样了，而且给老师写下了保证书。

　　这节英语课是我在所有英语课当中最难忘的一节课，从今以后我再也不会上课睡觉了，再也不会辜负老师对我的期望。

　　可是，这次学习是我人生中艰难宭相的过程，但是，又有许多生活趣事。

　　群山老年大学春秋开学之后，我和女友玲玲中途插班，我们带着一片陌生和好奇坐在明亮的教室，溜眼那些陌生的同学，同学们老态的脸和那花花绿绿的`格式衣裳，流露出了富足，矜持和成熟。现在的中国人没有海外镀金的傲气和张扬，反而多了些许谦逊和收殓;反之的人，多了理解和平和。她们个个认真虔诚地学习的表情，使人钦佩和尊重，仿佛要把失去的东西拿回来。激情使我慢慢地爱上了英语。我就喜欢哪些名叫元音和辅音的豆芽脚脚，在那些陌生晃忽的字母里好像有一个大世界。玲玲曾经学过，很快就进角色。而我就像一张白纸，茫然不知所措。英语分语音班和语法班，班上有两个男士，其余30多个都是女人们。老师要求我们在校就用英语对话。一段时间后，喜欢诙谐和玩笑的我，进教室就像女朋友招手打招呼：goodmorning(早晨好!)而我就取英语拼读的中文同音字(估到摸你)，见到女朋友就叫：darling(爱人)用同音中文：“打你”开玩笑。认识和不认识的的同学们都嫣然一笑。

　　It is undeniable that the worsening environment has become the biggest concern of the present-day world. Land resources are dwindling because of water loss and soil erosion. Waste gases poison the air we breathe. The rivers and lakes are polluted by waste dumped in them from factories. It is probably no exaggeration to say that deterioration of the quality of the environment threatens the existence of mankind itself.

　　Some people are of the opinion that the environmental problem is the price we have to pay for economic development. But I do not think that this argument is valid. After all, what is the point of economic growth if people's lives are adversely alfected by worsening environmental pollution ?
