　　英语作为一门在世界上广泛使用的语言，在各个领域发挥了重要作用。但是，我们也应看到，汉语和英语同样作为语言，并无孰优孰劣之分。《辞海》中对汉语是这样解释的：“汉语，汉族的语言。我国的`通用语言。国际通用语言之一，属汉藏语系。”而它对英语的定义是：“英语，英美等民族的语言。国际通用语言之一。属印欧语系日耳曼语族西日耳曼语支。”解释虽有些专业，但也足可见汉语和英语同样作为人类表情达意的工具，是没有高下，优劣之分的。

　　不可否认，英语如此在世界上流行，是由于英美的船坚炮利，经济基础，以及它们的国际影响。但是，作为炎黄子孙，如果我们连自己的母语都学不好，何谈振兴祖国？1870年普法战争中，法国战败，被迫将阿尔萨斯、洛林两个地区割让给普鲁士。普鲁士政府强迫占领地人民说德语，不准学校教授法语。法国小说家都德，满怀悲愤地写下了名篇《最后一课》。他说：“灭亡一个国家最有效的办法，便是灭绝这个民族的文字。”在一次“全球华人物理年会”上，虽然与会者都是黑眼睛黄皮肤的中国人，但主办方竟以所谓“国际惯例”为由，不准用汉语，而必须用英语进行发言。尽管这样，美籍华人物理学家，诺贝尔奖获得者丁肇中教授，不顾主办者的百般阻挠，仍坚持用汉语作演讲，赢得了所有与会者的敬佩。名人为我们做出了榜样。而相比之下，我们中的许多人，却还在鼓吹“英语至上”论，岂不是十分可笑？汉语是中华民族的文化瑰宝，是我们的母语，我们应该重视它。

　　下午，英语节开演，身为观众而非演员的我，只能和大部分同学坐在教室内在第三、四节课上观看直播。没办法，谁让自己不是演员呢！谁让自己报名时不够积极呢。谁让自己没有这个在台上展示口语的胆量呢。

　　台上演员的表演一个个都十分精彩，台下的我们却只能观赏这场大戏，做出一些“没有什么用处”的欢呼喝彩、鼓掌。如此一来，台上台下，谁更有价值，谁的水平更高，谁的'处境更好……自然，也就一目了然了。绝对的，台上的人比我这台下的强多了。

　　先不说谁英语好、表演能力好、运气好，抛开这些统统不提，单单是台上的同学的敢于上台的勇气就足以令人敬佩，并且更胜我一筹了。虽然我以前也报过名，但那也仅仅是一个配角罢了，台词十句话都不到，而且，就算这个节目不表演了，难道我就不会投身到其他节目里吗？是运气不好节目被淘汰掉了吗？不是！是自己的英语口语不强吗？不是，我每天的外教课也不是白上的！这一个又一个理由，只是苍白而无力的谎言罢了。根本原因，并不如此。

　　真正的原因，是不自信。面对英语，缺乏勇气，一心只想要逃避。一直这样，又怎么会成为台上的演员呢？始终这样，就算过一百年也不用想上台，但问题是，我就真的不敢上台吗？不是。仔细想想，我哪个地方逊色于别人了？英语方面，我的英语成绩在班里不算差，口语我也一直上着1对1外教课，有很大提升。临场方面，从小到大，主持人领诵也不知当过多少次，自然不怯场。技巧方面，在英语新概念课上表演课文内容，我们组合总能在我的带领下获表演最佳，表演天分一点都不差。所以，由此可见，对于英语节节目，我有很多资本。既然如此，干嘛不去拼一把呢？
