　　Everyone has goals. Many people do not reach their goals for lack of planning. These three sets of goals should be developed: lifetime, intermediate and short term. Lifetime goals should be written out. These goals should be clear and reasonable. For instance, the goal to win a research prize is clear and measurable. Other lifetime goals might include publishing a certain number of influential books or articles, earning a departmental chairmanship at a major university, successfully competing for a grant from the National Science Foundation or securing a consultantship with a big corporation.

　　Intermediate goals relate to outcomes during the next few years. For the beginning doctoral student, intermediate goals may include completion of course work and preparation of a doctoral research proposal. Like lifetime goals, these are measurable and clearly stated.

　　Short-term goals involve outcomes expected during the next 12 months. These goals are more performance oriented, and they help with achievement of intermediate goals. Examples of short-term goals are earning an A in a course, learning how to program a computer or performing an experiment.

　　I have many hobbies,such as swimming in summer,skating in winter,ect.;but my favourite hobby is collecting stamps.

　　I began to collect stamps when I was in middle school.Whenever new stamps were issued,I would try my best to get them.Usually I spent five yuan every month buying stamps.Now I have nearly 1,000 stamps,both Chinese and foreign.I like stamp-collecting for three reasons.First,quite a lot of stamps,especially commemorative ones,are pleasing to both the eye and the mind and good in artistic quality.Second,through stamp-collecting,we cn broaden our horizon and widen our knowledge,And third,stamps can mould our temperament and enrich the daily life mentally and spiritually.

　　My dream home is at the foot of a hill. It has two floors. There is a beautiful garden in front of my house. The garden is full of different kinds of flowers. I can always smell these nice flowers and water them. There are many rooms in my house. On the ground floor, there is a kitchen, a dining room, a living room and a bathroom. On the first floor, there are six bedrooms. There is also a big balcony on the first floor. I can look out at the hill and trees on the balcony. My dream home is in a very great neighbourhood. The neighbourhood is very big and the neighbours are kind to each other. There are many volunteers in my neighbourhood. Some of them are doctors, so they can take good care of the sick people. If there is something wrong with your things , the engineers here can help you fix them. When you have any problem with your study, the college students will help you. Second, changing major halfway needs a great resolution and we will face much pressure from others. Finally, changing major halfway may increase the burden of our family finance in that we need to spend another amount of money on another major. In addition, if we change our major halfway, we will lose a chance to find out our potential. Lack of persistence and willpower, we are difficult to be successful.

　　中途换专业有几点弊端。首先，中途换专业意味着我们要花更多的时间，精力和金钱在后面的专业上，却还不能全面的掌握该专业的知识。第二，中途换专业需要很大的决心而且我们要面临来自其他人的压力。最后，中途换专业可能会增加我们的家庭经济负担，因为我们需要花另外一大笔钱在另一个专业上。此外，如果我们中途换了专业，我们就会失去一个发现我们潜能的机会。缺乏毅力和意志力是很难成功的。

　　In short, it is not advocated that we change major halfway. Therefore, we had better take all aspects into consideration when we are choosing major so that we can avoid change major halfway. Once we choose a major, we should try our best to learn it better.

　　总之，不主张中途换专业。因此，在选择专业的时候我们最好全面考虑清楚，这样我们就可以避免中途换专业。一旦我们选择了一个专业，我们就应该尽最大努力把它学好。

　　There are too many disabled people in the world. They have no differences from country to country. Some of them were disabled when they were born, the others were injured or hurt in all kinds of accidents, which made them disabled. Almost all of us feel sorry for them. We commiserate with them because they are another kind of people. But some disabled people refuse others’ commiseration. They think they can do everything by themselves. They don’t consider themselves as people who have defects. They think they are the same as normal people.

　　In fact, a great number of people with disabilities should be taken care of by others. They get help from the government or some beneficent organizations in society. But that’s not enough. They must look after themselves on their own. When a baby with disabilities is born, it should be taught to learn some particular skills to live. Or else, it would fail in the future. So one with disabilities must have abundant confidence to fit the hard life without others’ help.
