iPhone users have a reputation for being smug – and now they may have a good reason.
A recent study has found that people who use an iPhone are smarter than those who prefer Android devices.
This is based on research that found states with more college graduates also tend to have higher iPhone sales.
The study, by Massachusetts-based advertising group Chitika, discovered that Alaska, Montana and Vermont have the largest number of iPhone users in the states also have the highest percentage of college graduates.
Meanwhile, New Mexico, Iowa and Delaware have the lowest percentage of people who use iPhones, and a lower number of graduates.
As well as intelligence, the research found that wealth was linked to higher iPhone use – a factor that Chitika says is related to education.
The study also found that iPhone sales are linked to population density. The more densely populated an area, the more chance iPhone sales will be higher.

WASHINGTON, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- . President Donald Trump was nominated for a second term on Monday at the 20xx Republican National Convention (RNC) in Charlotte, North Carolina, which has been scaled back due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Trump arrived at the Charlotte Convention Center on Monday afternoon, where over 300 delegates met in person for a roll call vote to formally nominate him and Vice President Mike Pence for the 20xx Republican presidential ticket.
I felt an obligation to come to North Carolina, Trump told the delegates inside a ballroom during the unannounced trip. It's a place that has been very good to me.
In rally-style remarks, the president touted achievements of his first term, focused on his administration's response to the pandemic, again attacked mail-in voting, and lashed out at Democrats who held their national convention virtually last week and some media outlets' coverage of the RNC.
He also touched upon a series of policy priorities for the next four years if he is re-elected, including creating jobs, cutting taxes, lowering drug prices, and continuing the military buildup.
The nomination was part of the four-day RNC themed Honoring the Great American Story, with each night having a sub-theme. On Monday, it is Land of Promise, which a Trump campaign official said honors the promises President Donald J. Trump has kept since his first presidential campaign.
Speakers for the RNC's opening night will include former . Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, and the president's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr.
Trump, who is expected to make an appearance on each of the four nights at the RNC, will deliver an acceptance speech on Thursday night from the White House South Lawn.
On Monday, a group of Republicans opposing Trump is holding Convention on Founding Principles in Charlotte, a gathering that organizers claimed would be an alternative to the RNC.
More than two dozen former Republican members of Congress, including former Senator Jeff Flake of Arizona, endorsed former . Vice President and 20xx Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden for president on Monday.
Today, given what we have experienced over the past four years, it's not enough just to register our disapproval of the president, Flake said in a live video on several social media platforms explaining his decision. We need to elect someone else in his place - someone who will stop the chaos and reverse the damage.
Biden, who formally accepted the Democratic Party's 20xx presidential nomination on the final night of its convention last week, leads Trump by percentage points nationally, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average. Trump, however, has repeatedly dismissed polls showing him falling behind.

It is barely half a century since parts of the Thames were declared ‘biologically dead’ because the river was so with the water now cleaner than at any time in living memory, entrepreneurs want to build a 10 million open-air swimming pool in the middle of the Thames in Central London.
Purification specialists from Germany – which has the highest water cleanliness standards in Europe – have designed a system which the scheme’s backers say will ensure that bathing is safe for visitors of all ages.
The Thames Baths at Temple Stairs on the Embankment will be surrounded by reed beds to filter water from the river before it is pumped into the 82ft by 32ft main lap pool, with a secondary filtration device underneath the poolside concerns have been raised about the project because of sewage overflows during heavy rain and the experience of comedian David Walliams, who suffered a bout of ‘Thames tummy’ during a 140-mile charity swim in experts from German firm Polyplan, which has built natural swimming pools all over Europe, have come up with a Evans, director of British firm Gartenart, which is working on the project, said the water – unheated and chlorine-free – will be ‘as clean as anything you would find in a mountain lake’。
The lido will have changing rooms, a 130ft ramp leading from the shore to the water, a plunge pool and a children’s paddling area, while a 4ft-high glass balustrade will protect swimmers from waves caused by river Romer-Lee, of Studio Octopi – the London architects behind the scheme – said he hoped an initial 300,000 to cover consultancy costs and other fees would be raised by crowd-funding, where members of the public can contribute to community schemes.
If planning permission is granted, the lido could open late next year.

he government of Heilongjiang province in northeastern China has confirmed that construction on a cross-border highway bridge linking the city of Heihe and Blagoveshchensk.
The 19.9-kilometer bridge will be the first cross-border bridge over the boundary river that separates the countries, the Heilongjiang River (or Amur River), with 6.5 kilometers in China and 13.4 kilometers in Russia.
With investment of nearly 2.5 billion yuan, the project is expected to be completed in three years and will be officially open to traffic in October, 20xx.
The notion of building the bridge was first put forward by both countries in 1988. However, establishment of a construction fund proved to be a significant obstacle and prevented the project moving forward.
In a bid to tackle the problem, Heilongjiang government in 20xx proposed to establish a joint1 venture company between the two countries to attract loans and then pay back the loans using bridge tolls2.
In September 20xx, a protocol3 on building the bridge was signed between China and Russia and one year later the Heilongjiang government in China and the Amur state government in Russia inked a contract with the China-Russia joint venture Company. According to the contract, the company will be responsible for construction management, operation and maintenance of the bridge as well as charging fees and returning loans.
Trips across the two sides are expected to be doubled to nearly 1.5 million in 20xx and freight volume is also expected to increase 10-fold, reaching over 3 million tons.

Chinese President Xi Jinping said Wednesday that the country's north should promote the use of clean energy in winter heating with a view to reducing the number of smoggy days.
Natural gas and electricity can be substitutes for coal, a major energy source for China, in heating buildings in north China, Xi said at the 14th meeting of the Central Leading Group on Finance and Economic Affairs.
Clean energy should be used as much as possible and supply a larger share of winter heating, Xi said, adding that the government will give enterprises a major role in the process to ensure affordable heating.
Last week, Beijing issued its first red alert of the year for smog. The lasting smog has disrupted the people's daily life and schooltime for students in Beijing and neighboring regions.

Thursday marked the eighth anniversary of the launch of the Chinese Navy's escort mission at the Gulf of Aden, the body of water to the north of Somalia in the Horn of Africa, an area of frequent pirate activity.
On the same day the PLA Navy finished its 1,000th task by escorting a Singaporean merchant ship to the eastern sea area of the Gulf.
Since 20xx, 25 batches of escort formations, including 78 naval vessels, 54 helicopters, and over 21,000 officers and soldiers, have convoyed nearly 6,300 ships from across the world to destinations safely. Altogether 60 ships that got into difficulty have been assisted.
The Navy has kept its record of 100% security of both the escortees and themselves.
The escort fleets are five times faster today than they were eight years ago in completing an anti-pirate deployment. The time helicopters need to react to an emergency situation has shrunk to one third of that of 20xx. The speed of Special forces deployment has also doubled.
The Navy is not exclusive to the Gulf of Aden area, but is made available when emergencies occur in other regions. For example, it went to the Mediterranean Sea and escorted 20 batches of Syrian chemical weapons, along with vessels from Russia, Denmark, and Norway.

In modern society, the decline in morals is becoming more and more severe. For example, there have been a few cases in which a senior woman pretended to have fallen over and then blackmailed the person who tried to help her. There was also another case where a little girl was hit by a car and no passers-by gave her a hand.
To solve this problem, we need first to find out the reasons. For one, the fast pace of modern society is driving people apart from each other, thus people are losing the patience to care for others. For another, with technology developing, it’s much easier for people to know what is happening in the world today. In order to draw people’s attention, some media would lay stress on negative news and overemphasize the negative effects.
To reestablish social morals, we must work together. People should learn to care for the others, while the media should treat negative news more properly.

Conservation efforts in Inner Mongolia have spurred the northern region's development and benefited the national capital, top regional officials said yesterday in Beijing.
The autonomous region, which is known as a major source of the seasonal sandstorms that blanket Beijing, has done what it could to curb ecological deterioration,Yang Jing, chairman of the regional government, said.
Protecting the environment has been listed as Inner Mongolia's most important infrastructure project, Yang told a press conference organized by the State Council Information Office yesterday to mark the region's 60th anniversary.
The number of sandstorms has fallen significantly in recent years, which favorably influences the weather in Beijing and Tianjin.
Inner Mongolia, which is some 300 km north of Beijing, has long been thought of as the capital's distance is not enough to protect Beijing from the wind-borne dust and sand that blow down from the region.
Dust blown in from western Inner Mongolia blanketed Beijing nearly two months ago, lowering visibility to 4 km from 20 km the previous day.
Inner Mongolia has spent some 20 billion yuan ($ billion) on efforts to halt desertification in an area measuring million hectares over the past five has also increased its forest coverage to percent of its total area from percent in 1999,Yang said.
At least 3 billion yuan was earmarked to implement the massive Beijing-Tianjin windblown sand sources control project in a bid to build a green ecological belt in northern China, according to regional government sources.
The project involves 458,000 sq km of land, about 48 percent of which lies in Inner Mongolia.
There are several sources of sand and dust (affecting Beijing) besides Inner have done what we could on our part, Yang said.
Chu Bo,secretary of the regional committee of the Communist Party of China, said yesterday that 70 percent of the region's livestock has been confined to enclosed pastures to reduce the grazing pressure on grasslands.
In addition to returning farmland to forests and reclaiming overgrazed pastures,Inner Mongolia has encouraged traditional pastoral areas to develop alternative industries.
Citing Erdos as a success story,Chu said the city would have plunged into an ecological vicious circle had it not built up secondary and tertiary industries.
As a result, the city of million people is expected to have a gross domestic product of 100 billion yuan ($13 billion) this year,a level of prosperity that can only be found in the country's coastal regions,Chu said.
Inner Mongolia is home to China's largest region spans million sq km,which is about twice the size of Ukraine.
